Why is video the thing you charge for?

Because it is the part that costs us something every week. Video sites change how they work constantly, and keeping up with them is ongoing work rather than something finished once. Downloading a file from a link costs us nothing, so it is free and it always will be.

What happens when I reach 2 GB?

Whatever is already downloading finishes — nothing is ever interrupted part-way, even if that takes the day past 2 GB. New downloads wait until midnight. And you are told before a download starts if it is going to be your last one of the day, rather than finding out at 90%.

Is the free version crippled?

No — and deliberately not. Nothing is ever throttled: free downloads run at exactly the same speed as paid ones, with every connection the engine can use. What is limited is how much in a day, never how fast. A download manager that slows you down on purpose is worse than no download manager, and we would rather you kept it installed.

What is this "relay" allowance?

When you send a file to someone, Pyxils connects the two computers directly whenever it can — and that is free and unlimited, forever, because it costs us nothing. Some networks will not allow a direct connection, and then the file passes through our server instead. That part we pay for by the gigabyte, twice over, so it is the one thing with a number on it: 1 GB a month free, 25 GB on Premium.

Most people never notice either figure. If you do, and you need considerably more, say so and we will work something out.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no password, and nothing to log in to. You get a licence key, you paste it in once, and it works — including on a computer that is never online.

How many computers?

Two. You can move a licence between them yourself in Settings, and reinstalling Pyxils does not use one up.

Does it renew by itself?

Yes. Premium renews every year (or every month, on the monthly plan) until you cancel, and the renewal reaches Pyxils by itself — you enter your key once and never again. We say this plainly because being charged for something you forgot about is one of the worst things software does.

How do I cancel?

From the link in the receipt email our payment partner sends you, or by writing to us. Nothing more is taken after that, and Premium keeps working to the end of the time you already paid for.

What happens when it ends?

Pyxils carries on working and goes back to the free limits. Nothing you have downloaded is touched, nothing is locked, and nothing is deleted. It is your computer and they are your files.

Can I get a refund?

Yes — 14 days, no reason needed, on the first payment of either plan and on every yearly renewal. Monthly renewals are not refunded; you can cancel whenever you like and nothing more is charged. The no-questions refund is once per person. See the refund policy.

I genuinely cannot afford it.

Then write and say so, and we will send you a free month of Premium — one computer, with the relay allowance the free version has, and everything else unlimited. No proof and no means test; write a sentence about what you need it for and a person reads it. Ask again when the month is up, and if you keep needing it we will stop making you ask.
